    Chicago's leading Indian American doctor Bharat Barai has supported the council's decision. He said that the Council on American-Islamic Relations is behind this proposal and its role should be investigated. The proposal was sponsored by Council Member Maria Haddon. He said the proposal was based on information from South Asian allies.

    The motion dropped by 26 votes against 16.
    Chicago Mayor (Mayor) Lori Lightfoot said on Wednesday that many members of the council were uncomfortable voting (in support of the proposal) because we do not know if the land is actually on the ground in India What's happening. After which the proposal criticizing India was rejected by 26 votes against 18.
